Hull FC are set to announce the signing of Kiwi-born winger Bureta Faraimo, according to fellow Black & White website Up The Cream.

League Weekly first linked the club with the USA international last week, reporting that the 27-year old would be the long-term replacement for the departing Mahe Fonua.

A similar player to Fonua, who will return to the NRL to join the West Tigers, Faraimo is currently with the New Zealand Warriors for the remainder of the season down under after being released by Paramatta last month.

The winger joined the Eels from the Mackay Cutters in 2014, after scoring 29 tries in just half a season with the club. He rose to prominence in the 2013 Rugby League World Cup with four impressive performances for the United States. However, Faraimo has found game time hard to come by making just 15 appearances for the club.

Lee Radford had been keen to recruit a similar player to fill Fonua’s place in the squad in 2018, and Faraimo fits the bill perfectly.

He is expected to be offered  2-year contract, according to reports.
